Hopkins Girls Basketball Beats Maple Grove; Heading to 5th Straight Title Game
The Hopkins girls basketball team beat Maple Grove for a third time this season, this time in the Class AAAA state semifinals 60-45.
After Maple Grove scored the first four points of the game, Hopkins scored the next nine to take the lead for good.
The Royals led 32-18 at halftime and the Crimson got no closer than six points in the second half.
Jaliyah Diggs scored 20 points and Erma Walker 18 for the Royals.
Kate Holmquist scored 22 for the Crimson. Maple Grove (25-6) meets Rochester Mayo for third place Saturday at 4:00 pm at Concordia-St. Paul.
Hopkins (27-2) plays Rosemount in the AAAA championship game Saturday at approximately 8:00 pm at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
The Royals are shooting for their third state title in five years.
