Hopkins Football Wins Second Straight Game
The Hopkins football team broke a 29-game losing streak that dated to 2020 a week ago. Friday they rallied past Burnsville 34-22 to make it two straight wins.
After a pair of Burnsville touchdowns put the Blaze up 14-0 in the second quarter, Hopkins pulled to within 14-7 at the half on a Tre Moore to Edward Walker touchdown pass.
The Royals tied it in the third quarter on a Tre Moore to Jayden Moore TD pass, then went ahead 22-14 when the same duo connected for a 75-yard score.
Burnsville tied it on a kickoff return touchdown, but the Royals beat the clock for the win as Desmond Moody scored on a short run in the final seconds to make it 28-22.
The Royals got a defensive touchdown on the final play of the game as Charles Pollen returned a fumble as Burnsville tried several laterals to make the final score 34-22 Hopkins.
