Hopkins Boys Basketball Still Undefeated, Averaging 97 Points Per Game
With a 102-74 win over Waconia on Wednesday night, the Hopkins boys basketball team advanced to 11-0 on the season and have scored 90 or more points in eight straight games.
The Royals are leading the state in scoring, averaging 97 points per game, but it’s their defense that has been the focus this season.
Hopkins has ramped up their defensive pressure and created more turnovers, which in turn has created more possessions, and more points.
Five Royals are averaging over double figures this season, led by one of the best backcourts in the state in Anthony Smith (25.2 ppg) and Jayden Moore (16.5 ppg).
2019 was the last time Hopkins advanced to the state tournament and won a class AAAA championship, and the Royals are hoping to achieve that this season.
