Hopkins Boys Basketball Beats Totino-Grace in Season Opener
The Hopkins boys basketball team returns most of last year’s strong club and they scored a good road win Wednesday, beating Totino-Grace 91-78.
It was the season opener for both teams.
Totino-Grace is three-time defending state champion in Class AAA, while Hopkins is ranked third in Class AAAA to start the season.
After Grace took an early lead, Hopkins took over and built a 41-30 halftime lead.
After trailing by double figures the Eagles battled back, getting as close as three at 73-70 before Hopkins pulled away again.
Anthony Smith had 26 and Davie Hart 22 to lead Hopkins. Chace Watley scored 32 and Malachi Hill 21 for Totino-Grace.
