Hopkins Beats Cooper in Section 6AAAA Boys Basketball Final
The Hopkins boys basketball team beat Cooper 71-60 to win the Section 6AAAA boys basketball title.
After a strong start by Cooper gave them a 7-0 lead, the Royals battled back to grab a 33-22 halftime lead.
Cooper surged early in the second half and closed to within 42-40, but they never could get the lead.
Cooper held Hopkins star Kerwin Walton to three field goals, but he was 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
Struggles at the free throw line cost Cooper, as they made just 14 of 28.
Davion Evans had 20 points to lead Cooper.
Walton had 16 and Cornell Richardson 14 for the Royals.
