Hopkins Baseball Wins Section 6AAAA Title
The Hopkins baseball team finished an unbeaten run through the Section 6AAAA tournament by beating St. Louis Park 15-8 in the championship round.
The Royals scored in all six innings they came to the plate.
After St. Louis Park scored in the top of the first, Hopkins answered with three in the bottom of the frame.
A bases-loaded triple by Ben Farley keyed a five-run second for St. Louis Park as they grabbed a 6-3 lead.
Hopkins never stopped hitting though.
Jack Mausser blasted a two-run homerun in the second to pull the Royals within 6-5.
They added two in the third, with a solo homer by Maddox Mihalakis leading off the inning.
The Royals scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead for good and they went on for the win.
Jake Perry was 4-for-5 for Hopkins. Mihalakis drove in four runs, with Mausser and Jack Preimesberger adding three hits each.
Hopkins advances to the state tournament for the tenth time in program history.
The class AAAA tournament will be at Chaska Athletic Park this season, with the exception of the championship game at Target Field.
The tournament begins June 15th.
