Hopkins Baseball Loses Big at Waconia
The Hopkins baseball team scored the first run of the game against Waconia Tuesday, only to see the Wildcats score the next 11 to beat the Royals 11-1 in five innings.
Drew Charney drove in Paul Safranski on a third inning groundout for the only Hopkins run.
Waconia scored four runs in the bottom of the third and six in the fourth inning before winning the game in the fifth on Riley Ohm’s double that scored Owen Amrhein with the 11th and final run.
Hopkins (3-2) plays at Minnetonka Wednesday and hosts Wayzata on Friday.
Waconia, which moves up to Class 4A for post-season play this spring, is now 2-1.
