Hawks down Jefferson in girls basketball
The Cooper girls basketball team is having a great season and Bloomington Jefferson found out firsthand how tough the Hawks are Tuesday night. Cooper piled up 40 points in the first half to lead 40-19 and breezed to a 70-42 win to improve to 12-2 this season. Both of Cooper’s losses are to teams ranked in the top 10 in the largest class, AAAA. Four Cooper players scored in double figures Tuesday, with Kierra Wheeler the high scorer with 14 points. The Hawks play at Benilde-St. Margaret’s Friday, then play on the road at Chanhassen Tuesday. Cooper and Chanhassen share the early lead in the Metro West Conference with 3-0 conference marks.
