Fast Start Carries Hopkins Legion Baseball Past West Fargo
The Hopkins American Legion baseball team won again Friday, beating West Fargo 5-3 in the loser’s bracket of the Central Plains Regional in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A strong start keyed the win for the Flyers.
They put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning, with Jake Perry belting a two-run homerun and Brock Zimmer following with a solo shot.
West Fargo tied it up with a three-run fourth inning.
Hopkins came back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead, scoring on an error and a sacrifice fly.
Ryan McGie pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win, with Ryder Lane getting the last two outs to earn a save.
Hopkins plays again Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
