East Ridge Girls Soccer Knocks Out Maple Grove in Final Seconds of State Tournament Quarterfinal
Reese Tovar’s goal scored with just nine seconds left in regulation was the only goal scored in a 1-0 win for East Ridge over Maple Grove in the Class AAA girls soccer state tournament quarterfinals.
The Crimson had a couple shots on goal early in the first half that were saved or shot just wide.
Crimson goalkeeper Bella Hannah came up with some big stops down the stretch, but Tovar’s goal assisted by Elle Wildman, sent the Raptors to the state tournament semifinals.
Maple Grove ends its season with a 14-3-2 record. The Crimson were Section 5AAA champions, along with Northwest Suburban Conference champions.
