Cooper Rolls Past Orono in Girls Basketball Playoffs
Cooper’s girls basketball team has had a great season, and the top-seeded Hawks rolled past fourth seed Orono in the Section 6AAA semifinals Saturday.
Cooper improved to 25-2 with the 76-39 win.
Ju Gaston came off the bench to score 16 points for Cooper, while Aja Wheeler had 15 points, all in the first half.
Orono was the defending section and state class AAA champion.
It’s Cooper first season in class AAA.
The Hawks face Benilde-St. Margaret’s, a team they defeated twice in the regular season, for the section title Thursday night at Chanhassen High School.
