Cooper Girls Basketball Wins State Opener
The Cooper girls basketball team won its first-ever state tournament game Wednesday morning.
The Hawks were tested but pulled out a 58-51 win over Alexandria in the class AAA quarterfinals at Williams Arena.
Cooper had a three-point lead at halftime and never trailed in the second half, but the Cardinals kept it close throughout.
Jada Buford had 20 points and Andrea Tribble 18 for the Hawks.
Cooper meets Willmar in the semifinals.
