Cooper Football Team Pushes for Big Season
They graduated one of the state’s premier players in Emmanuel Karmo, now a University of Minnesota freshman, plus some other long term standouts.
But the Cooper football team has a good group of returners and they’re eager to prove the program will continue on a strong path.
The Hawks return seven offensive starters, including star wide receiver Semaj’ Young and junior quarterback Beckham VanVoorst.
They return five starters on defense, including all of the secondary.
Cooper was 8-2 last season, with both losses coming to Robbinsdale district rival Armstrong.
Since reaching the state semifinals for the first time in program history in 2021, Cooper has finished second to Armstrong in Section 5AAAAA for three straight seasons.
They hope to change that this fall.
