Cooper Football Team Excited for Fall Season
There is a lot of excitement around the Cooper football program this week.
Like other teams around Minnesota, the Hawks found out Monday that there will be a fall season.
The Minnesota State High School League voted for the fall season after earlier pushing the season back to spring 2021 due to COVID-19.
The Hawks return a strong group from a team that was 7-3 last fall.
That includes Division I recruits Joe Russell, a junior quarterback who was offensive player of the year in the Suburban Red subdistrict.
Sophomore tight end Jaxon Howard is also being heavily recruited.
Defensive lineman Raheem Akindele is coming off a strong season, too.
Official practices begin Monday September 28.
Cooper’s season opener is at Waconia October 9.
