Cooper Football Falls to Waconia in Opener
The Cooper football team fell to Waconia 14-12 in a close battle in the season opener.
Waconia’s Tim Stapleton scored twice in the second quarter and added two extra points for a 14-0 lead.
Cooper put together a great drive to score with seven seconds left in the first half.
Joe Russell threw to Cornelius Wooten for a 32-yard touchdown to bring the Hawks within 14-6.
Russell connected with David Connors for another score early in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks again missed a two-point try.
