Cooper Football Beats Park Center in Season Opener
The Cooper football team had two interception returns for touchdowns on the way to a 20-7 win over Park Center in the season opener for both teams Thursday.
Emmanuel Karmo returned an interception 63 yards for a touchdown to give the Hawks a 7-0 lead after one quarter.
A 46-yard pass from Kameron Fox to Dalon Gurley set up a Fox QB sneak to give Cooper a 14-0 lead late in the second quarter.
Ty’John Brooks gave Park Center a big lift by returning a punt for a touchdown on the final play of the first half as the Pirates pulled within 14-7.
It stayed that way until late in the game, when Tony Kollie of Cooper returned an interception for the clinching score.
