Cooper Boys Basketball Holds off Fridley 53-50
The Cooper boys basketball team won its first conference game of the year Friday, beating Fridley 53-50.
The Hawks held a nine-point lead at halftime and were up 11 early in the second half only to see Fridley rally and go in front late.
Sophomore guard Daviion Ellison hit a big three-pointer for Cooper with just over two minutes to play as the Hawks re-took the lead.
The Tigers had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but their three-point shot was just short.
The Hawks improve to 2-3 on the season with the win, 1-1 in the Tri-Metro Conference.
