Chauncy Williams-Barefield Starts New Chapter as Head Coach of Hopkins Football
The Hopkins football program begins the 2024 season under new leadership as Chauncy Williams-Barefield takes over as head coach after departing from Brooklyn Center.
The Royals are looking to turn things around as they haven’t won a game since 2020.
Williams-Barefield also brings former Minnesota Gophers quarterback Bryan Cupito on his staff as the offensive coordinator.
On offense, Nathan Dobbs is a versatile athlete on the offensive line, Dylan Casper and Tre Moore are competing for the quarterback position, and Jayden Moore looks to be a deep threat at wide receiver.
Defensively, the Royals are led by senior linebacker Mark Gonzales and junior cornerback Ignacio Cisneros.
Hopkins kicks off the season at Shakopee on Friday.
