Champlin Park Rallies Past Wayzata in Boys Basketball
Champlin Park rallied past Wayzata to win an overtime thriller 78-76 in boys basketball.
Wayzata had a three-point lead after a back-and-forth first half.
The Trojans stretched that lead to double figures and seemed to be on their way to a win.
Champlin Park fought back and Francis Nwaokorie’s free throws with three seconds left forced overtime.
Nwaokorie broke a 76-76 tie with a basket with four seconds left in overtime.
Wayzata got a last chance but couldn’t convert and the Rebels celebrated a memorable comeback.
Joshua strong had 24 points and Nwaokorie 23 to lead Champlin Park.
Carter Bjerke’s 15 points led a balanced attack for the Trojans.
Champlin Park improved to 8-5 with the win.
Wayzata falls to 2-11.
