Champlin Park, Maple Grove Finish 2nd, 3rd at 5AA Gymnastics Meet
The Champlin Park and Maple Grove gymnastics teams finished second and third respectively to Elk River/Zimmerman in the Section 5AA Gymnastics meet Thursday.
ER/Z won the team title with 144.250 points and will represent Section 5 at next week’s state meet.
The Rebels totalled 142.425 points while the Crimson’s team total was 139.900. Park Center finished fifth and Osseo/Fridley eighth.
Champlin Park’s Katie Johnson won the all-around title at the meet. Annika Lee of Park Center and Sasha Thompson of Maple Grove also qualified for state in the all-around.
Other local state meet qualifiers were Champlin Park’s Tashina Beyioku-Alase (floor exercise) and Emma Saksa (uneven bars), and Maple Grove’s Abby Palmer (bars).
The state meet is March 26-27 at Champlin Park High School.
