Champlin Park Boys Soccer Rallies but Loses to Blaine
The Champlin Park boys soccer team trailed Blaine 2-0 at halftime, and the Bengals added another goal early in the second half to go up 3-0.
Things turned interesting down the stretch though.
Jamell Yafondo converted on a penalty kick midway through the second half to make it 3-1.
With just under 14 minutes left Ike Ofulue scored to pull the Rebels within 3-2.
They created a few more chances but couldn’t get the equalizer as their rally fell short.
Samuele Sporneac scored twice for the Bengals, with Damir Secic scoring as well. Alec Weil made some key saves for Blaine.
The Bengals wrapped up the Northwest Suburban Conference title with the win, edging Osseo for the top spot with a 9-1-2 conference mark.
Champlin Park finished sixth at 4-3-5 in league play. Section play starts this coming week.
