Champlin Park Boys Soccer Edges Osseo
The Champlin Park boys soccer team edged Osseo 2-1 Monday to hand the Orioles their third straight defeat.
Beniam Makkonen scored on a penalty kick for Osseo to give his team a 1-0 lead midway through the first half.
Kafema Sanoe scored with about a minute left in the first half for Champlin Park to tie the score at 1-1.
The Rebels dominated most of the second half, and broke through with the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute.
Lester Arthur’s shot caromed off the goalpost and then hit the body of Osseo goalkeeper Kalan McIlveen and deflected in, just crossing the goal line before McIlveen could grab it.
Champlin Park wraps up the regular season Wednesday against Coon Rapids, while Osseo faces Maple Grove that day in their last regular season game.
The Rebels and Orioles will both compete in the Section 5AAA tournament next week.
