Champlin Park Boys Hockey Beats Maple Grove in OT
Trevor Aberwald scored in overtime to lift the Champlin Park boys’ hockey team to a 2-1 overtime win over 3rd-ranked Maple Grove Thursday. Evan Williams and Jordan Ronn assisted on Aberwald’s seventh goal of the season.
Ronn scored Champlin Park’s first goal of the game, tying the game at one in the second period.
Jack Kernan opened the scoring for Maple Grove in the second period on a nice pass from Finn Brink.
There was no scoring in either the first or third periods.
Rebels’ goalie Coen Neu finished the game with 32 saves.
Jack Roach had 24 stops in net for the Crimson.
The loss was the first in the Northwest Suburban Conference this season for Maple Grove (12-3-1, 8-1-1).
Champlin Park improves its record to 11-5-0 overall and 6-3-0 in the NWSC.
