Champlin Park Boys Hockey Advances to Section Final with Win over Maple Grove
Brent Solomon scored two first period goals to help the Champlin Park boys hockey team skate to a 3-2 win over Maple Grove in the Section 5AA semifinals.
The Rebels led 2-0 after one period but the Crimson scored early in the second on a goal by Wyatt Kuznik.
The game remained 2-1 until 2:15 remained in the game when Brody Holoien scored to give the Rebels a 3-1 lead.
Tommy Picconatto scored a powerplay goal for the Crimson with under 30 seconds to go for the final goal.
Tanner Wylie made 37 saves in net for the Rebels.
The Crimson finish the season with a 16-10-1 record.
The Rebels (18-9-0) advance to a section final for the first time in 12 years and meet top-seeded Rogers (22-3-2) Thursday at 7:00 pm at the Furniture and Things Community Events Center in Elk River.
