CCX Sports Year in Review: 2020 Hopkins Girls Basketball
The Hopkins girls basketball team finished the 2019-20 season with a perfect 30-0 record.
The Royals however came one win short of a second straight Class AAAA state championship when the remainder of the state tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hopkins was the top-ranked team in Minnesota all season and also earned a number one ranking in a national poll of high school teams.
The Royals outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points per game.
Senior guard Paige Bueckers, now a freshman at the University of Connecticut, won state and national player of the year awards.
Long-time head coach Brian Cosgriff retired as the Hopkins head coach in the summer having won 569 games and seven state championships.
