CCX Sports Spotlight: The Alstead Family- Wayzata Boys Hockey
In this week’s CCX Sports Spotlight John Jacobson features the Alstead family from the Wayzata boys hockey program.
Senior Brittan Alstead and sophomore Ryder Alstead are brothers and first cousins to Gage Alstead (senior) and Eli Molde (sophomore).
All four are either varsity or junior varsity players this season.
This is the second generation of Alsteads at Wayzata. Ryan Alstead (Class of ’92) and Meghan (Coleman) Alstead (1994) are parents to Brittan and Ryder.
Brady Alstead (1994) is father to Gage while the youngest Alstead sibling from the 90’s, Tiffany (1998), is mother to Eli.
Ryan and Brady both played hockey at Wayzata while Tiffany and Meghan played soccer. While Wayzata did not reach the state hockey tournament in the 1990s both Meghan (Fall 1991) and Tiffany (1996) won state championships for the Trojans in soccer.
Following a win Saturday afternoon at Grand Rapids, the 2023-24 Trojans are 12-0-2 and ranked second in the state to Minnetonka in Class AA.
