CCX Sports Spotlight: Maple Grove Kickers
In this week’s CCX Sports Spotlight, John Jacobson profiles Maple Grove senior football players Connor Fournier and Ben Jameson.
The two have shared both placekicking and punting duties this season for the Crimson with Jameson excelling on kickoffs—most of them resulting in touchbacks—while Fournier has excelled on field goals and extra points.
Fournier enters the state playoffs with 45 extra points in 47 attempts with one of the two misses being a block, and seven field goals made in eight attempts. He set the school record for longest field goal with a 47-yarder against Forest Lake.
Jameson is also a starter for the team at defensive end.
Both guys spend extra time outside of regular practice working on their kicking on their own and with Crimson special teams coach and kicking guru Chris Husby.
