Brooklyn Park Native Krissy (Wendell) Pohl Headed to Hockey Hall of Fame
She’s lost track of how many halls of fame she is already in, but this one is extra special for women’s hockey pioneer Krissy (Wendell) Pohl.
Pohl is part of the Class of 2024 elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.
After growing up playing boys hockey, Krissy had two spectacular seasons for the Park Center girls team, leading the Pirates to a state championship as a senior and scoring an eye-popping 219 goals in two years.
She helped the University of Minnesota to two NCAA titles and was national player of the year in college, and was a standout in international play for Team USA. She played in two Olympic games, winning a silver medal in 2002 and bronze in 2006.
Pohl now coaches the Hill-Murray girls team with her husband and former hockey star Johnny Pohl. Krissy is also a scout for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The class of 2024 will be inducted November 11 in Toronto.
