Brooklyn Center Football Loses in Section Playoffs
The Brooklyn Center football team lost 38-14 to St. Paul Como Park in the Section 4AAAA playoffs Tuesday.
After a scoreless first quarter, Como’s Santos Aguirre scored on a short run and then a swing pass from quarterback Jude Breen.
Brooklyn Center answered with a 25-yard strike from Deshaun Pongsak to Tavionte Powell to pull within 14-6.
The Cougars came right back with a 44-yard touchdown pass from Breen to Steven Rein to make it 22-6 at halftime.
Aguirre’s third touchdown of the game put Como up 30-6, but a 71-yard pass from Pongsak to Romerus Sykora gave Brooklyn Center hope.
Como scored the only points of the fourth quarter though as Aguirre scored his fourth touchdown and the Cougars secured the win.
Brooklyn Center finishes the season with a 5-4 record. Como Park faces top seed Fridley in the semifinals Friday.
