Breck Boys Basketball Loses in State AA Semifinals
The Breck boys basketball team fell short in its bid for back to back state championships, losing 68-60 to Waseca in the Class AA semifinals.
Miles Newton topped the Mustangs with 24 points but the Blue Jays’ Deron Russell scored 38 points on 14-23 shooting, including four three-pointers, to lead Waseca to the win.
Breck (21-11) did come to win the third-place game, beating Caledonia 98-79. Newton scored 30 points with Mu Muhammad adding 26.
Waseca lost in the AA title game, falling 70-63 to Albany.
