Big Second Period Leads Rogers Boys Hockey over Champlin Park
A six-goal second period was the difference in a boys hockey match-up between conference and section rivals Rogers and Champlin Park, with the Royals winning 8-2.
It was the first loss of the season for the Rebels.
Rogers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but Champlin Park responded with a goal late in the first from Evan Long.
The Royals then scored six straight goals to start the second period before Brent Solomon stopped the bleeding with a powerplay goal with 50 seconds left in the period.
Neither team scored in the third period.
Champlin Park is now 4-1 on the season while Rogers advances to 5-1.
