Benilde-St. Margaret’s Girls Soccer Aims for State Title
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s girls soccer team comes into this week’s state tournament as the top-ranked team in the state in Class AA.
The Red Knights (16-0-3) are in the tournament for the third year in a row and hope that the “third time’s a charm.”
B-SM was state runner-up in 2021 and finished third last season.
The Red Knights have outscored opponents 81-9 in 2023 and are led in scoring by Kiya Gilliand (21 goals, 15 assists).
Benilde-St. Margaret’s is the number two seed for the state tournament behind defending state champion Holy Angels.
The Red Knights face Mankato East (9-4-0) in the quarterfinals Wednesday at 5:30 pm at Farmington High School.
The winner advances to the state semifinals next Tuesday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
