The Benilde-St. Margaret’s football team eliminated Providence Academy in a playoff thriller.
The Red Knights handed the Lions their first loss of the season, 35-34 in overtime.
The teams traded leads throughout a good battle.
Benilde took the lead in the fourth quarter only to see Providence tie the game.
A BSM field goal try at the end of regulation was no good, forcing overtime.
In overtime, Benilde scored on a pass from Nick Peterson to Dylan Rash. Their PAT kick was good.
Providence scored on its first overtime snap as Jeff Ekiyor ran it in.
Sixth seed Benilde now meets SMB for the Section 5AAAA title.
