Benilde-St. Margaret’s Boys Hockey Falls to St. Thomas Academy
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s boys hockey team lost for just the second time this season, falling 3-1 to St. Thomas Academy.
Benilde came in ranked number four in class AA, with St. Thomas Academy at number eight.
After a scoreless first period, Luca Pedri scored midway through the second to give STA a 1-0 lead.
It stayed that way until AJ Ulrich scored on a wraparound for BSM with 4:34 to play in the third. Late in the contest, Cole Braunshausen won a faceoff for the Cadets and the ensuing point shot deflected off Branshausen and in.
They added another on an empty-netter to win 3-1.
It was the 699th career win for St. Thomas Academy coach Mike Randolph, with most of them coming for Duluth East. Randolph needs nine wins to become Minnesota’s all-time leader.
