Benilde-St. Margaret’s Baseball Wins State Opener
The Benilde-St. Margaret’s baseball team won its opener in the state Class AAA tournament.
The Red Knights beat Marshall 3-1 in the quarterfinals at Siebert Field at the University of Minnesota.
BSM scored a run in the top of the first inning, and the game stayed that way until the seventh.
Benilde added two insurance runs in the top of the inning before Marshall got on the board with a homerun.
Red Knights pitcher Blake Mahmood didn’t allow any more runs and finished with an 11-strikeout complete game.
The Red Knights also beat Monticello Friday afternoon to advance to next Thursday’s title game in AAA.
