Armstrong-Cooper Boys Hockey Falls in Double OT
The Armstrong-Cooper boys hockey team lost a heartbreaker, falling 3-2 in two overtimes to Delano in the Section 2A final.
Delano scored twice in the first period, but the Wings controlled much of the action in the second and third periods.
Jack Campion set up Noah Weisjahn for a goal in the second period to make it 2-1.
Weisjahn set up Ben Anderson for the tying goal in the third period.
Both teams got some quality chances in the remainder of regulation but couldn’t score.
Armstrong-Cooper had a shot ring off the goalpost in the first overtime for a near-miss.
In the second overtime, Adam Brown stole the puck at center ice and fed Jesse Peterson for the game-winner.
It was Armstrong-Cooper’s first section final appearance as a co-op, and first for a District 281 team since Armstrong in 2001.
Delano qualified for the state tournament for the third time.
