Armstrong Boys Basketball Beats Cooper in 6AAAA
The Armstrong boys basketball team beat district rival Cooper 70-60 Tuesday night in the quarterfinal round of the Section 6AAAA tournament.
Payton Mogire scored 24 points and Peyton Newbern 16 points to lead the Falcons who led from start to finish.
Davion Evans scored 17 points and Michael Cooper 12 for the Hawks.
Armstrong (13-14) now faces top-seeded and defending state champion Wayzata (23-4) in the section semifinals Friday night at Wayzata High School. Hopkins hosts Minneapolis South in the other semifinal.
Cooper finishes the season with a 15-10 record.
