Armstrong Baseball Team Edges Wayzata
The Armstrong baseball team edged Wayzata 2-1 to move into the winner’s bracket final in Section 6AAAA.
Both teams had plenty of base runners in the game.
Pitchers A.J. Sturnieks of Armstrong and Blake Ask of Wayzata wiggled out of jams throughout the game.
Armstrong’s Drew Eid singled in a run in the first, and a throwing error on his bunt led the Falcons’ second run.
Eid also had a spectacular play at shortstop in the seventh inning to rob Wayzata of a hit.
His counterpart Keegan Nickel of Wayzata also had a gem at shortstop early in the game.
Armstrong meets Hopkins in the winner’s bracket final Monday.
Wayzata faces Minneapolis Washburn in an elimination game Thursday.
