Adapted Soccer to Have Practice Only Season
Adapted soccer teams in the state will have a practice-only season this fall due to COVID-19.
That’s pending approval of a recommendation made to the Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors.
Coaches had hoped to start the season later and play a shortened schedule, but realized the logistics involved would make it tough.
Many of the adapted programs are co-ops that involve schools from multiple districts.
The districts may have different models for learning this fall, adding to complications.
The plan proposed is similar to those for fall workouts for volleyball and football teams.
Over a five-week stretch adapted soccer teams could hold eight practice sessions, outdoors when possible.
