Adam Spurrell Named Maple Grove Head Football Coach
Adam Spurrell was introduced as the new head football coach at Maple Grove High School on Monday afternoon, becoming just the third head coach in the program’s 28-year history.
Spurrell has been on the Crimson staff for 19 years, mostly recently as the defensive coordinator for the varsity team.
He succeeds Matt Lombardi who resigned as Maple Grove’s head coach in early March.
Spurrell, who on Saturday received the Butch Nash Award as the state’s top assistant coach of the year, expects much of the current coaching staff to remain in place.
The Crimson return 17 starters next fall from a team that finished 7-3 last season.
Maple Grove won the Class 6A title in 2022.
