# 1 Hopkins Girls Basketball Loses to Chaska in State Semifinals
The top-ranked Hopkins girls basketball team saw its 78-game winning streak end Wednesday with a 67-62 loss to Chaska in the state tournament class AAAA semifinals.
It was the Royals’ first loss since the state championship game in March of 2018.
Chaska erased a five-point deficit with a 16-2 scoring run in the first half to take the lead for good.
Mallory Heyer scored 24 points and Kennedy Sanders 21 for the third-ranked Hawks (17-0).
Taylor Woodson was one of three Hopkins players to score in double figures with 16 points while Nu Nu Agara added 14 and Amaya Battle 13 points.
There is no third-place game in the state tournament this season and the Royals finish the season with a 16-1 record.
Chaska meets Rosemount for the AAAA title Friday night at the Target Center.
