World Culture Fair Celebrated at FAIR School Crystal
Students who are scholars in the Freedom Schools program in the Robbinsdale School District participated in a World Culture Fair at FAIR School Crystal on Tuesday.
“The most exciting part is that our scholars get to experience various cultures, various musical acts from a variety of different backgrounds that they may not be familiar with,” said Tamuriel Grace, executive director of Freedom Schools.”It’s critical for our students to see themselves in different diversity.”
Students are called “scholars” in the Freedom Schools program and were encouraged to come dressed up in their cultural attire for the fair. Besides hearing music from other cultures, they also could taste the food too. Students had a chance to check out fry bread tacos, brisket sandwiches, jerk chicken mac and cheese, plus Liberian iced tea.
