Woman Abducted at Knifepoint Outside Brooklyn Park Grocery Store
Brooklyn Park police need the public’s help finding a person who abducted a woman and tried to sexually assault her. The incident happened in the parking lot of the Aldi grocery store at 7600 Brooklyn Boulevard on Saturday, May 12, at about 8:10 p.m.
Police say the assailant threatened the victim with a knife and led her to her car. Surveillance video captured a small portion of the incident. The person with the knife then forced the woman to drive to a spot in Brooklyn Center where police say her captor tried to rape her. However, she was able to escape and call 911.
“This is something that does not happen very often thankfully, and that’s why we take it very serious,” said Brooklyn Park Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley. “We have multiple investigators from our major crimes unit working on it, along with the Brooklyn Center investigators.”
Description of Person Who Abducted Woman
The assailant is described as a teenage black male, about 5 feet 4 inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing a black zip-up jacket with no design on the front. He covered his nose and mouth with a blue bandana, police said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Brooklyn Park Police Detective Czapar at 763-493-8287.
