Weekend Showcase: Yellow Tree Theatre’s “The Season of Love”
Valentine’s Day is approaching and people tend to think of February as the season of love. Yellow Tree Theatre in Osseo is tackling that topic in a virtual production called “The Season of Love.” till isn’t producing any live productions but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been busy.
“The Season of Love” is a one hour variety show and online entertainment celebrating love and romance and we’re doing it obviously in honor of Valentine’s Day,” said Craig Johnson, director.
The segments were recorded by Twin Cities performers and musicians. Then they were sent to Craig to be edited together into the hour long show.
“There’s Classic songs by Irving Berlin and George Gershwin, along with familiar and some unfamiliar short little love poems. There is a classic story by O. Henry that I think people will enjoy. And a number of little anecdotes and jokes that celebrate all the different varieties of love,” said Johnson.
Both sentimental and comical, the show could make for a great stay at home date night.
“Theater people, like all performing artists, are creatives. So that’s what we’re trying to do is be creative. Use the technology that we have and try to bring people together,” said Johnson.
You can purchase access to the show for $10 on the Yellow Tree Theatre website. The performance is available from now through the end of the month.
