Wayzata School Board Picks Robb Virgin as New Superintendent
The Wayzata School Board has selected Robb Virgin to be the next superintendent of Wayzata Public Schools.
“I’m honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve the Wayzata Public Schools community,” Virgin said. “This is a district with an extraordinary reputation that has been so well cared for, and I’m excited to partner with students, staff, families, and the School Board to continue building on its legacy of excellence. I look forward to listening, learning, and moving forward together.”
Virgin currently is assistant superintendent of Eden Prairie Schools.
He will start his duties as superintendent on July 1, 2026.
“Throughout this process, we were focused on finding a leader who shares our community’s commitment to student success, strong partnerships with staff and families, and continued excellence in our schools,” said Milind Sohoni, Wayzata School Board Chair. “We look forward to working together to build on the district’s strong foundation, and support every student in reaching their full potential.”
Virgin will succeed Chace Anderson, who has led the district for the past 18 years. Anderson announced his plan to retire last September.
Meanwhile, Virgin was one of three top contenders for the superintendent job.
The other two candidates were Rainey Briggs, chief operations officer for Des Moines Public Schools, and Cory McIntyre, superintendent of Anoka-Hennepin Schools.
The superintendent decision comes as voters in the district will decide the fate of a nearly $500 million bond referendum. If it’s approved, the district could build two new schools and expand Wayzata High School.
