Voters Re-Elect Two Robbinsdale School Board Members, Plus New Member Hillenbrand
Voters in the Robbinsdale Area School District re-elected two candidates and elected one new face to the school board on Tuesday.
The top three vote-getters were Greta Evans-Becker, Helen Bassett and Aviva Hillenbrand. A total of seven candidates competed for the seats.
The results are as follows:
- Aileen White 14 %, and 12,451 total votes
- Aviva Hillenbrand 14 %, and 12,773 total votes
- Barbara Breher 10 %, and 9,004 total votes
- Greta Evans-Becker 20%, and 17,891 total votes
- Helen Bassett 16 %, and 14,438 total votes
- Kenneth Wutoh 14 %, and 12,726 total votes
- Debroah Campion 10 %, and 9,176 total votes
Bassett and Evans-Becker were both incumbents. John Vento did not run for re-election.
Incumbent candidates had to face challenges surrounding the board’s description as “dysfunctional,” as found by an outside investigator hired to look into school board conduct.
The Robbinsdale Area School Board also went through mediation during the year in an attempt to resolve conflicts.
The district includes all of Robbinsdale, Crystal and New Hope, and parts of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Plymouth and Golden Valley.
