Valley Pastries Reopens After Three-Month Closure
Valley Pastries in Golden Valley reopened on April 26 to considerable fanfare after being shut down for nearly three months.
The bakery, along with several other businesses in the Sunny Hollow Shopping Center, had to close in early February due to a faulty sewer line that needed to be replaced.
“We were told by the city of Golden Valley that we needed to shut down,” said Alex Loosbrock, co-owner of Valley Pastries. “We really had no choice in the matter, so we had to shut down and they had to do an emergency fix on the sewer line. And it was the entire sewer line, it ran through the whole length of the building. It was quite the project. Took longer than anticipated, as with everything these days.”
After nearly three months without income, the owners are happy to, once again, provide customers in the northwest metro with what many people consider to be the best doughnuts in town.
“It’s great to see all of the smiling faces,” said Loosbrock. “We love what we do in the community and we love bringing donuts to everybody, everyday. So it was hard to be away, for multitudes of reasons that people can probably understand, being a small business owner. But it’s just nice to be back.”
If you want to get your hands on the most popular pastries, owners say your best bet is to either get to the shop early when they open at 6 a.m., or to place your order online.
