Update: 18-Year-Old Charged in Brooklyn Park Homicide
Marcus Thornton, 18, has been charged with second degree murder with intent for the death of a 16-year-old at an African market in Brooklyn Park on August 17.
The criminal complaint says surveillance video shows Thornton shooting at a person in a parked car, running away to an apartment complex and emerging a short time later in different clothing to get in an Uber. The person who police suspect called the Uber and disposed of Thornton’s clothing also has been charged with aiding an offender, accomplice after the fact.
The victim has been identified as Varney Kennedy, Jr, 16 from Golden Valley. His family gathered at the scene of the crime on Brookdale Drive to ask for peace a day after the deadly shooting.
