Three Local Candidates Are Teacher of the Year Semifinalists
The nominees for 2020 Minnesota Teacher of the Year have been narrowed down from 124 teachers to just 36.
Three teachers from our area made the cut:
Kori Brown, art teacher at Birch Grove Elementary
Jan Radder, second grade teacher at Birch Grove Elementary
Amanda Laden, biology teacher at Wayzata High
A selection panel of 24 community leaders chose the semifnalists.
What’s next? The panel will portfolios and video submissions in late March and select 10 finalists from the group. Then, the winner of Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced May 3.
Education Minnesota, the statewide educators union, organizes and underwrites the Teacher of the Year program. Candidates include pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, Early Childhood Family Education and Adult Basic Education teachers from both public and private schools.
