Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks To Open in Maple Grove
Maple Grove is getting a new pizzeria to replace a vacant restaurant space on Main Street.
Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks is opening at the site of a former Leeann Chin restaurant, located at 7767 Main Street.
Co-owner Antonio Gambino said this will be the restaurant’s sixth Twin Cities location. He plans to open the new Maple Grove location on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
“We’re a family restaurant,” said Gambino.
The Maple Grove City Council approved a wine and 3.2 malt liquor license for the restaurant at its Dec. 18 meeting.
According to its website, Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks serves individual-sized pizzas made from scratch. The restaurant says its dough and sauce recipes were developed more than 45 years ago to provide “an authentic taste of Italy.”
The restaurant said it uses a family recipe for its cheesesteaks to give “an authentic taste of Philly,” referring to the city where the sandwiches became famous.
“I have heard only good things about the restaurant,” said Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson at Monday’s meeting. “I’m excited to be there and test it all out.”
